Bulimia Nervosa in Teenage GirlsWe are here to help your daughter overcome her Bulimia Nervosa, an eating disorder in which periods of large intake of food alternates with periods of fasting. Purging (either through use of enemas or laxatives or intentional vomiting) is frequent. Bulimia is closely tied to body dissatisfaction and is approximately nine times more common in females than in males.
Serious symptoms and side effect include dehydration, tooth decay, constipation, ulcers, esophageal inflammation. Because there is not generally significant change to overall body weight, and your daughter may well be average or above average in weight, Bulimia is more difficult to detect and diagnose than Anorexia.
There are treatments available to help her, usually a combination of psychotherapy and (anti-depressant) medications. She might work with a nutritionist, too, to help establish healthy diet and eating habits.
As you might imagine, your daughter will need family support to help with her Bulimia Nervosa. Whether genetic in origin or not, body image (often a false or distorted one) is at the core of her illness. Altering menus and family eating scheduled can go far towards promoting healthy food consumption habits and providing support so that she doesn’t relapse after her Bulimia treatment has ended.

Balancing Her Life
We are here to help your teen heal from Bulimia Nervosa. Along with her academic work (we offer a fully accredited high school diploma), we firmly believe it also very important for her life to be well balanced.
We therefore provide many activities, like horseback riding, volleyball, swimming, caring for farm animals, wilderness outings, uplifting movies and more. Your daughter will learn to sing in our choir and to speak publicly. Our school offers a well-balanced therapeutic program designed to help her get back on track spiritually, behaviorally and academically.
