NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER IN TEENAGE GIRLS
We know how to help your daughter with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, a behavior disorder in which she is excessively preoccupied with herself, and shows extreme vanity. As a Narcissist, she believes she is particularly “special” and unique, and may well be arrogant and condescending toward others, acting as if no one else is on a level to be able to understand her.
Diagnosis for NPD (also called Narcissism) necessarily includes many of these symptoms: a grandiose sense of self importance, complete lack of empathy, takes advantage of others, has an unreasonable expectation of especially favorable treatment, requires excessive admiration, is preoccupied with fantasies of ideal love, or limitless success, beauty or power.
One of the more effective treatments is schema therapy, a combination of different elements from cognitive, behavioral and gestalt therapy along with object relations’ treatment. A main purpose of therapy would be to reduce her insistence that others see her as she wishes to be seen, and adapts instead to reality.
In serious cases, she can be controlling and self-absorbed, even intolerant and judgmental of the therapist’s thoughts.
How We Can Help
It is most important to us to help your teen with her Narcissistic Personality Disorder but, along with her academic work (we offer a fully accredited high school diploma), we think it is also very important for her life to be well balanced.
To that end, we provide many activities, such as horseback riding, volleyball, swimming, caring for farm animals, wilderness outings, uplifting movies and more. Your daughter will learn to sing in our choir and to speak publicly. Our school offers a well-balanced therapeutic program designed to help her get back on track spiritually, behaviorally and academically.
Typical boarding schools tend to expel misbehaving girls but at Wings of Faith, we welcome them and work with them to change their behaviors.
Wings of Faith is an affordable conservative Christian boarding school, designed for pre-teen and teenage girls who are struggling with bad behavior and rebellion. The Academy provides behavioral correction with an emphasis on Christian values, set in a comfortable residential ranch setting.
Our methods have been turning teen girls around for over 20 years. Our school is a member of the Missouri Association of Christian Child Care Agencies (MACCCA).
If you’re seeking a solution to your daughter’s life-disrupting condition, please call (417) 276-8761 and speak to us at Wings of Faith. Let us show you how we can help her overcome her Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and start the transformation of her life to a joyful and productive future.
